A message from our Treasurer…Russ Bertrand
As we all know, hard fought elections unfortunately have become very expensive down the stretch…and this Senate race will be no exception. Strong financial support is the essential life line that supplements our door to door efforts. TV, radio, signage, and mailings quickly add up, and with your help, our name and message will be easily recognized & supported at the ballot box come this November.
On behalf of Team Bertrand I would like to personally Thank you in advance for your contribution & may God bless you for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Russ Bertrand

Why are you running for public office, why the Iowa Senate?
I am going to Des Moines to Lead...and not simply be a political party rubber stamp. I am running for the Iowa Senate to stop this runaway spending and empower people, not government, to grow Iowa. People always talk about how "we just can't find good candidates that are willing to run." I feel with the diversity of my background in the private sector locally, nationally, and internationally, I bring a unique qualified understanding and vision of growth to our State and local economies.
What qualifies you for this office?
I believe the diversity of my background makes me a solid candidate. I was born and raised on a family farm in Sioux City's Senate District 1 and I am truly a product of Iowa education. I attended Grant elementary before graduating from Bishop Heelan High School in 1988. I started my college career at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge Iowa before earning a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Northern Iowa in 1993. I have worked passionately in the healthcare arena the past 14 years promoting innovative treatments for Diabetes. My past role has given me extensive national and local experience in budgeting, marketing, and communication. My reputation is that I have the ability to laugh, listen, gather facts, budget, broker deals, and get things done.
In 2002 I started a commercial development company and understand the advantages and challenges of building commercially in Sioux City and in Iowa. In 2004 I founded TARINI Wines in Sioux City Iowa. This adventure has provided tremendous local, state, and international experience as pertained to government interaction, while building a business from scratch in Iowa.
So what's your strategy to win?
To keep it simple...My goal isn't to try to convince people to think like me, but to reach out and excite people who share the same family values and economic vision. You can have the most organized campaign strategy in the world...but if people don't trust you, like you, or connect with your vision, they simply won't show up to vote. My campaign is about meeting people, knocking on doors, listening and empowering people to make change.
